Russia sends a note of protest to Georgia over the opposition’s pro-Ukraine rally

Russia has sent a note of protest to Georgia over the recent rally held by the European Georgia opposition party near the Russian Federations’ Interest Section in the Embassy of Switzerland in Tbilisi.

As Russia and Georgia cut diplomatic ties following the Russia-Georgia 2008 war, Switzerland is mediating between the countries on political issues, while economic ties were respite between the countries in 2013, shortly after the Georgian Dream came to power.

“We  have received the incident with great concern. On January 26, the Georgian opposition held an anti-Russian political rally near the building of the Swiss Confederation’s Embassy. Shortly before the rally, the Russian interests’ section was cut off from main and backup power supplies,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The statement says that electricity provision was restored soon.
