At least 11 people, including five children, were killed, and 30 others were wounded in a Russian missile and drone assault on the eastern Ukrainian city of Dobropillia overnight, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry reported on Saturday.
According to the ministry, Russian forces launched ballistic missiles, multiple rockets, and drones, causing severe damage to eight multi-storey buildings and 30 vehicles.
“While extinguishing the fire, the occupiers struck again, damaging the fire truck,” the ministry stated on Telegram, sharing images of burning buildings and rescue workers clearing debris.
In a separate drone attack on Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, three civilians were killed, the ministry added.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strikes, emphasizing the need for stronger air defenses and tougher sanctions against Russia.
“Such strikes show that Russia’s objectives have not changed. Therefore, it is crucial to continue to do our best to protect lives, strengthen our air defences, and increase sanctions against Russia. Everything that helps Putin finance the war must collapse,” Zelenskyy said on Facebook.
