Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hezbollah, describing it as “an important step towards peace.”
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Kristersson underlined the significance of the development for regional stability while urging similar action in Gaza. “The Swedish government welcomes the ceasefire agreement announced between Israel and Hezbollah. This is an important step towards peace,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister expressed concern about the ongoing violence in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire to address the humanitarian crisis. “For stability and lasting peace in the region, a ceasefire is urgently needed in Gaza as well,” Kristersson stated.
Sweden reaffirmed its commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and conflict resolution. “The Swedish government supports the diplomatic efforts being made to this end,” Kristersson added, highlighting Sweden’s active role in promoting peace and stability.
This call comes amidst growing international concern over the escalating violence in Gaza, which has resulted in widespread civilian casualties and a dire humanitarian situation. Sweden has long advocated for peaceful conflict resolution and humanitarian support in the region.
