Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze expressed confidence that Georgia would soon elect a new president who is a patriot and devoted to the country, rather than, as he described, a “traitor.” His remarks came in response to President Salome Zourabichvili’s statement that the Georgian Parliament is illegitimate and therefore cannot elect a new president, insisting she would remain in office.
“Salome Zourabichvili has exactly four Fridays left. Of course, we will elect a new president. Georgia will soon have a new, worthy president—someone patriotic, who loves their country and homeland, and not a traitor. Zourabichvili will conclude her term in four weeks,” Kaladze stated.
