Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze says that registering business for the Russian citizens in Georgia who have left their country after Russia invaded Ukraine back in February should not be a problem.
Kaladze’s statement comes on the heels of the criticism by the opposition and social media users who say that the Georgian Dream government should impose certain visa restrictions for Russian citizens and should not allow them to register business in the country.
“It is normal that people leave the place which they dislike. I believe that the people who have the right way of thinking should not accept that their country invades and launches hostilities in another state. There are many people who have a civilized way of thinking and disapprove of Russia’s actions,” Kaladze said.
Georgia has refused to impose sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine as it would be ‘harmful for the interests of the Georgian people.’
Instead, the Georgian Dream government says that they have stood by Ukraine in the international platform and in terms of humanitarian aid.
