Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has criticized President Salome Zourabichvili’s involvement in discussions around nominating a Prime Ministerial candidate, questioning the legitimacy of her role in the process. Responding to news of Zourabichvili’s recent meetings with opposition party representatives, Kaladze dismissed the significance of the opposition’s efforts to nominate a candidate.
“Who is asking Salome Zourabichvili to present a candidate for Prime Minister? I don’t know, this is just unbelievable. It’s like a theater of the absurd where every radical has a role to play,” Kaladze remarked.
He further argued that the opposition’s actions, including nominating a Prime Ministerial candidate, lack any real impact.
“It doesn’t matter who they nominate. This is simply another blatant violation of the constitution, and it should not go without a response,” Kaladze added.
On Saturday the president told TV Pirveli that she already has a candidate in mind for the position of Prime Minister in forming a coalition government. However, she has not yet disclosed the person’s identity.
„I won’t announce the name right now because consultations with the political parties need to occur first, and we need to reach an agreement,” Zourabichvili said in an interview.
