The number of COVID-19 infections in the world exceeded 106 million, more than 2.3 million people died

The number of detected infections with coronavirus infection in the world since the beginning of the pandemic on Monday morning amounted to 106 million 159 thousand 883 cases, according to data from the American Johns Hopkins University.

Worldwide, the number of deaths from COVID-19-related diseases increased per day to 2 million 317 thousand 162, more than 77 million people recovered.

Countries with 5 million or more COVID-19 infections include the United States, India and Brazil.

The United States remains the leader in the number of people infected and died, where 27 million 4 thousand 715 COVID-19 infections were detected, 463 thousand 437 deaths were recorded, about 17 million people were cured.

The second largest number of people infected is India, where the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic amounted to 10 million 838 thousand 194, the number of deaths – 155 thousand 80, more than 10.5 million people have recovered.

Brazil has the third position in the world in terms of the number of infected. Here, during the pandemic, 9 million 524 thousand 640 cases were registered, of which 231 thousand 534 people died, more than 8.4 million were cured.

According to the portal Worldometer, which specializes in statistics on the most important world events, the death rate per 1 million of the world's population was 298.6 on Monday morning. In the United States, 1 thousand 430 people died per 1 million inhabitants, India – 112, Brazil – 1 thousand 85.
