Tornike Rizhvadze resigns as Chairman of Government of Adjara

Tornike Rizhvadze announced on Friday resignation from the position of Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in Georgia’s west. The decision was made public through a statement he shared on social media.

“I have made a decision to resign from the position of Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara,” Rizhvadze wrote. “I have been holding this position for the seventh year. It is time for something new, and I want to wish the future Chairman success”, he said.

In his statement, Rizhvadze expressed gratitude to key political figures and supporters, including the founder of the ruling party Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili. He also thanked public servants, party members, and residents of Adjara “for their support during his tenure”.

“Special thanks to the population of Adjara for the trust they have shown. I remain a loyal soldier of the Georgian Dream and I am sure that many great victories lie ahead of us,” he added.
