Traffic restrictions announced in Tbilisi for public screening of Armenia-Georgia football match

Tbilisi City Hall has announced traffic restrictions around First Republic Square on Thursday, as a public screening of the Armenia-Georgia football match will take place.

The event, organized in partnership with the Georgian Football Federation, will allow fans to gather and watch the match on a large screen.

From 00:30 on March 20 to 14:00 on March 21, traffic in the area will be restricted, affecting routes along central Rustaveli Avenue and surrounding streets. The restrictions are expected to accommodate the expected crowds and ensure safety during the event.

Vehicles traveling from Rustaveli Avenue towards Kostava Street will be rerouted, with drivers directed to turn at the Olive Tree and either return towards Rustaveli Avenue or head towards Mikheil Javakhishvili and Merab Kostava Streets. Those coming from Javakhishvili Street will be diverted towards the Tbilisi State Concert Hall. Drivers traveling from Kostava Street will be directed towards Rustaveli Avenue and Freedom Square, with the option to reconnect to Kostava Street after turning at the Olive Tree.

Public transport services will also be adjusted. The N359 bus, heading towards Vake, will reroute from Javakhishvili Street via Kostava Street and then continue along its regular path. The N457 minibus, traveling towards Besiki Street, will be diverted via Revaz Tabukashvili Street and Rustaveli Avenue, before returning to its regular route.

The public screening comes ahead of the Georgian national football team’s play-off match in the 2024-2025 UEFA Nations League season, which will kick off at 9:00 p.m. in Yerevan on March 20. Fans in Tbilisi are encouraged to take part in the festivities and cheer on their team during the live screening.
