US President Donald Trump said on Monday that a revenue-sharing agreement between the US and Ukraine on Ukrainian critical minerals is expected to be signed soon.
Speaking to reporters during a Cabinet meeting on Monday, Trump also revealed that discussions are ongoing about the possibility of American firms owning Ukrainian power plants.
A US delegation met with Ukrainian officials on Sunday and Russian officials on Monday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While the primary focus of the talks has been negotiating a Black Sea ceasefire, Trump stated that other economic and territorial issues are also being addressed as part of efforts to end Russia’s three-year war against Ukraine.
“We’re talking about territory right now. We’re talking about lines of demarcation, talking about power, power plant ownership. Some people are saying the United States should own the power plant… because we have the expertise,” Trump said.
