Mariam Gaprindashvili, a journalist for TV Pirveli, sustained injuries during the ongoing protests near the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi.
According to the network, members of the special police forces physically attacked Gaprindashvili and her cameraman, Papuna Khachidze, on 9 April Street.
Gaprindashvili suffered a head injury, experienced breathing difficulties, and reportedly lost consciousness briefly. She was immediately transported to a hospital for medical attention.
Medical professionals provided an update, stating, “Mariam’s condition is stable. She received treatment for a laceration on her forehead, which was cleaned and stitched. Currently, advanced radiological examinations are underway. At this moment, she feels satisfactory.”
The incident underscores rising tensions during the protests, which began following the government’s controversial decision to postpone EU accession talks until 2028.
