Mark Clayton, the UK ambassador to Georgia, has wished success to Nino Lomjaria, the public advocate of Georgia, whose tenure ends this month.
“Good luck to Nino Lomjaria as she completes her tenure. The Public Defender plays a crucial role in upholding human rights for all. I look forward to continuing fruitful cooperation with her successor and wish Nino all the best in future”, he said.
Lomjaria, who had been praised by international organizations and diplomats, has been slammed many times by the current Georgian Dream authorities, calling her “politically biased”.
The parliament is now in the process of electing a new public defender.
