UK and France to work on Ukraine plan before presenting it to US

The United Kingdom and France, along with other countries, will work on a plan regarding Ukraine before presenting it to the United States, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced.

Following discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron, Starmer stated that the UK, France, and “possibly one or two other countries” will collaborate on a plan to end hostilities in Ukraine.

Once finalized, the plan will be submitted to the United States.

“I believe we have taken a step in the right direction,” Starmer told journalists.

The British Prime Minister also expressed his view that US President Donald Trump “wants to see long-term peace in Ukraine” despite his rhetoric and stance towards Zelenskyy.

Starmer outlined three key factors he believes are essential for lasting peace in Ukraine: the US defense mechanism, security guarantees provided by European nations, and a strong Ukraine with sufficient defense capabilities to resist Russian aggression.
