Explosions reverberated throughout Kyiv and multiple regions across Ukraine overnight, as Russian forces unleashed a barrage of missiles and drones in a new wave of strikes. Ukrainian authorities report that the country’s air defense systems managed to intercept many of the attacks, though damage and casualties were still reported.
In Odessa, a 62-year-old woman was killed following a rocket strike, according to a morning update from the Odessa District Military Administration. The attack also caused significant damage to nearby buildings and vehicles, highlighting the ongoing risks to civilian areas.
Meanwhile, in the Mykolaiv district, an energy facility was targeted, leaving part of the region without electricity. Drone strikes on energy infrastructure also disrupted power in parts of Ivano-Frankivsk city, further illustrating Russia’s continued focus on crippling Ukraine’s energy grid as winter approaches.
In Kyiv’s Pechersk district, debris from a downed Russian drone triggered a fire when it ruptured a gas pipe connected to a five-story residential building. Emergency Situations Services confirmed that the fire caused additional damage to surrounding homes and about 20 vehicles parked nearby.
According to data released by the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched four guided aviation missiles (Kh-59/69) at the Odessa region, while Sumy region was hit with two missiles of an unknown type. A total of 78 unmanned aerial vehicles were also deployed by Russian forces during the night. Despite the scale of the assault, Ukraine’s air defenses claimed success, downing 66 drones and four guided missiles.
Air defense systems were activated across a broad swath of Ukraine, including Dnipro, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions.
