Ukraine’s Intelligence Chief: Our drones can hit Russian targets around 1,800 km away

Ukrainian drones now can hit targets within Russia at distances of up to 1,800 kilometers, posing a direct threat to the infrastructure supporting Russia’s war effort, said Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence. Budanov made this statement while congratulating military personnel on Military Intelligence Day.

In his address, Budanov highlighted the growing effectiveness of Ukraine’s military operations, particularly through unmanned systems. He emphasized that Ukraine’s drones, developed in part by his agency, are now capable of striking Russian military targets deep inside the country, including airbases that pose a constant threat to Ukrainian cities.

“Russian military airfields, which have been a persistent danger to peaceful Ukrainian towns, are now shaking under our airstrikes…Russia’s infrastructure, crucial to its war machine, is suffering and will continue to do so. Instead of defending its own territory, Russia chose the wrong path by launching an unprovoked war on a sovereign nation,” he said.

Budanov also noted that Ukraine’s cyber intelligence specialists have successfully carried out numerous operations throughout the year, gaining valuable intelligence by infiltrating enemy databases and identifying weaknesses in Russian communication systems.

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has ramped up its weapons production, with notable advancements in drone technology. Ukrainian experts have developed new attack and reconnaissance drones, alongside naval drones used to strike Russian ships and other maritime targets.
