US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has stated that Ukraine will not receive financial aid unless President Volodymyr Zelenskyy actively seeks peace.
Speaking on the matter, Lutnick emphasized that President Donald Trump is determined to end the war in Ukraine and establish peace.
“He even said that one must be reasonable when dealing with Putin. You can’t call Putin a terrorist and then try to negotiate peace with him. That’s why a balanced approach is necessary,” Lutnick said.
He further highlighted Trump’s ability to act as a mediator in high-stakes negotiations.
“Donald Trump knows how to be a mediator, he knows how to make decisions. And he needs Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy had to hear this directly from the United States, the country funding Ukraine: ‘We will not give you money unless you strive for peace,'” Lutnick stated.
