The United States has strongly condemned the “ongoing violence” perpetrated by the Georgian Dream party against Georgian citizens.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the violence had targeted opposition leaders, journalists, civil society members, and protestors.
The statement described these actions as attempts to intimidate citizens and suppress the exercise of their fundamental freedoms. It emphasized that such acts “hinder Georgia’s return to the Euro-Atlantic path”, which the “majority of Georgians aspire to pursue”.
“Georgia deserves better,” the statement concluded.
