US envoy Kellogg: Any deal with Russia must prevent future war

Kit Kellogg, the US special representative for Ukraine and Russia, emphasized that any agreement with Russia must ensure that a new war does not break out.

During a visit to the Irpin military hospital near Kyiv, Kellogg met with wounded Ukrainian soldiers and described the experience as “emotional.”

“This is why President Trump is absolutely right about ending this war. The killing must stop,” Kellogg wrote.

According to Sky News, Kellogg’s rhetoric stood in sharp contrast to President Donald Trump’s statements regarding the war in Ukraine.

When asked by an injured Ukrainian soldier whether Russia could be trusted in negotiations, Kellogg responded, “Every war ends in negotiations. Ultimate victory on the battlefield is achieved through diplomacy, and today’s world is no exception.”

He reassured the soldiers of continued US support, stating, “Can you trust the people who stand with you? The real question is: Are we with you? The answer is yes, we are with you.”

Kellogg reiterated that the goal of any peace agreement with Russia must be to prevent future conflicts.
