The United States has reaffirmed its coordination with NATO allies in addressing the threats posed by Russia to European security, including its actions in Georgia and Ukraine. US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller highlighted the ongoing occupation of both countries as a critical aspect of Russia’s destabilising activities.
“This is a country that has invaded another of its neighbours, Georgia, and continues to occupy Georgia in the same way that it continues to occupy Ukraine,” Miller said.
He emphasised the need for continued NATO cooperation in countering not only direct threats but also asymmetric challenges created by Russia across Europe, which have manifested in various regions.
