Zourabichvili: US suspension of strategic partnership is result of Georgian Gov’t’s anti-Western policy

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has expressed concern over the suspension of the US-Georgia strategic partnership, calling it a direct consequence of the Georgian Dream (GD) government’s policies.

“The suspension of the US-Georgia Strategic Partnership is the tragic result of GD’s anti-democratic, anti-Western, anti-European, and anti-Georgian policies. It’s clearer than ever that the course they pursue leads only in one direction — toward Russia,” she wrote on X.

The US State Department announced the suspension of the strategic partnership with Georgia through spokesperson Matthew Miller, citing the Georgian government’s decision to halt the EU accession process and its treatment of peaceful protests advocating for European integration.

Protests have surged in Tbilisi and other cities, with citizens accusing the government of abandoning Georgia’s constitutional commitment to European and democratic principles.
