Georgian PM meets with US Congressmen in Tbilisi

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili met with five US Congressmen in Tbilisi earlier today. 

 

US support in the institutional building of Georgia, increased capability of defense, implementation of democratic reforms, elections, situation in Georgia’s Russian occupied regions, Georgia’s role for international peace and in the recent evacuation of civilians from Kabul, as well as Black Sea security have been discussed at the meeting. 

 

“It was noted that in the conditions of a complicated situation, unlawful occupation of Georgian territories by Russia, uninterrupted provocations and borderization, visit of US Congressmen is particularly important for the country, “ the government of Georgia press office has reported. 

 

Congressman Alex Mooney said that the US is happy to have a partner and an ally like Georgia in the region. 

 

Before the meeting the Congressmen Mooney, Bryan George Steil, Kelly Armstrong, Carol Devine Miller and  Ronald Jean Estes visited the occupation line in the village of Odzisi

 

They are scheduled to leave the country late on September 9.
