Saakashvili’s girlfriend, Ukrainian MP arrives in Georgia to see ex-president in prison

Ukrainian MP from the ruling Servant of the People party Liza Yasko has arrived in Georgia and is now waiting for an official consent from the prison administration to see Georgian ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili in Rustavi No.12 prison.

Saakashvili and Yasko recorded a video prior to the ex-president’s departure to Georgia ahead of the October 2 municipal elections in which the couple announced they have a family.

Saakashvili until now has been officially married to Sandra Roelofs.

They have two sons Eduard and Nikoloz and have not announced their divorce officially.

Saakashvili, who is convicted in Georgia, says he has returned after eight years  to ‘save the country’ from the current Georgian Dream leadership.

He said that winning  the  municipal elections by the United National Movement opposition, the party which was founded by him, would  be a step taken for a bigger victory - the change of authorities via early parliamentary elections.
