Georgian law enforcers have arrested several United National Movement opposition activists in central Tbilisi today, during the party rallies in front of the State Security Service and the Ministry of Health. 

The UNM is also holding the third rally at the Ministry of Justice, demanding the transfer of former president, Mikheil Saakashvili, to a civil clinic from a prison hospital, his release from prison and the annulment of the recent municipal election results. 

The exact number of the detainees has not been announced so far. 

The UNM claims they will continue the rallies until all their demands are fulfilled. 

The party has plans to hold the fourth rally at the building of Tbilisi City Court later today,where Saakashvili’s trial is scheduled for the 2007 opposition rally dispersal and illegal seizure of property of businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili. 

Saakashvili was convicted by Georgian court in absentia in 2018 on two counts of abuse of power and was sentenced to six years in prison.

He is  now facing five additional charges, including illegal seizure of property, embezzlement, illegal rally dispersal, and illegal border crossing.
