Opposition calls for joint resolution, other moves in support of Ukraine

The Georgian parliamentary opposition parties have called on the ruling Georgian Dream party to adopt a joint resolution in support of Ukraine and send a joint delegation to the country amid threats of attacks by Russia.

The opposition says that a meeting with defense and foreign ministries in parliament should also be scheduled, as well as a Security Council meeting on how Georgia can respond to the tension.

A draft resolution in support of Ukraine was initiated in parliament a month ago by the opposition For Georgia party.

However, the ruling party says that they need consultations over the draft.

Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated earlier today that he is ready to get involved in the consultations.

Russia occupies territories of Georgia and Ukraine and demands NATO not to add the two countries as new members.
