Majority of Covid patients need no hospital treatment - health authorities

The majority of Covid-19 patients need no hospital treatment or additional health checks, Deputy Health Minister of Georgia Tamar Gabunia said on Tuesday.

 

She stated that there was “no sharp increase” in daily infections over the past several days.

 

Between July 10 and 17, Georgia recorded 7,812 new cases of coronavirus out of 72,073 tests.

 

Seven individuals died from the virus in the reported period, while 4,764 people  recovered.

 

The Health Ministry said that if Covid patients were placed in hospitals without real grounds, the costs of medical services would not be reimbursed to the clinic.

 

Georgia has confirmed 1,667,453 cases of coronavirus since February 2020.

 

The virus has claimed 16,847 lives since April 2020.
