Online ticketing platform claims Galkin, Makarevich’s show canceled in Tbilisi “on political grounds”

Biletebi.ge, which has been selling tickets for the upcoming concert of Andrei Makarevich and Maxim Galkin in Tbilisi, stated on Friday that the event was canceled “due to political grounds”.

"[The political context] is out of the question. Should they have held it with us? We agreed to these concerts, they were scheduled with us, and now how could we change our minds?" said the platform.

The platform has announced that the Sports Palace refused the concert organizers and "banned the artists Makarevich and Galkin".

According to them, this happened in a political context, because the artists support Ukraine.

"It is unbelievable that a private organization on its own initiative gives up income and goes to such reputational damage.

Obviously, this happened in a political context. Artists (Makarevich, Galkin) who openly support Ukraine and who are supported by Ukrainians have been banned,” biletebi.ge said.

Misha Edzgveradze, head of Sports Palace Tbilisi claimed that the cancellation was because the building had a problem, which "we found out a week ago".

According to him, the concerts of Maxim Galkin, Andrey Makarevich and Valery Meladze will no longer be held in their hall.

"Unfortunately, it can not be done with us and I do not know anywhere else. Unfortunately, the building has faced some problems and the repairs cannot be made in time. We are still investigating the extent of this damage," he said.

To Biletebi.ge's statement that the concerts were canceled due to the political context and support for Ukraine, he replied that "it is absurd".

Showman and satirist Maxim Galkin was planning a concert in Tbilisi as part of his tour to help Ukrainian refugees. His concert was to be held in Tbilisi Sports Palace on October 15. Ticket sales started on July 25.
