Georgian PM will attend all platforms about God, human rights - ruling party MP

The prime minister of Georgia, our government will always be present at the occasions that are  in the interests of the majority of the country’s population. Wherever there is talk of God, human rights, Georgia will be everywhere and naturally, our prime minister has been invited and will appear at the Conservative Political Action Conference scheduled in May, Irakli Zarkua, the ruling Georgian Dream party MP, said on Thursday.

The annual political conference is attended by conservative activists and officials from the United States and beyond, and is hosted by the American Conservative Union, with the inaugural session held in 1974.

"Various representatives of our government are in Europe, some are in the United States or other countries. We participate in all platforms that represent the interests of Georgia, the interests of the Georgian people”, Zarkua said.

“A lot of people are engaged in politics, I would call  pseudo-liberals [a part of them], who have not found their place in society and can show themselves only with insults and provocations”, he added in reference to critical comments over the PM’s alleged attendance at the event.
The  lawmaker also claimed the current Georgian Dream authorities strived for “Europe, European integration, preservation and strengthening of Orthodoxy”, and stressed “ our interest is protection of our values that are compatible with democracy”.
