New PM dismisses Gov’t administration head

Irakli Kobakhidze, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Georgia, has dismissed Revaz Javelidze from the post of the head of the Government Administration.

Javelidze, who has served in the post since May 10, 2022, has been relieved of his duties by Kobakhidze, with the decision signed on February 29.

Javelidze previously held the role of parliamentary secretary of the government. Taking over the position on an interim basis is Ilia Shamugia, who previously served as the head of Kobakhidze's cabinet in the parliament during his time as an MP and the head of the ruling Georgian Dream ruling party.

Kobakhidze had indicated his intention to enact changes within the administration upon assuming office last month. One of his initial actions in this regard was the replacement of the head of the Strategic Communications Department of the Government Administration.
