The suspect, identified as a 47-year-old individual, had reportedly drawn the attention of law enforcement prior to this incident. Authorities are treating the property damage caused by the attacks as a serious threat to public safety. The suspect could potentially face penalties including fines, probation, imprisonment, or other forms of restriction for up to five years.The assaults on the Russian embassy occurred on April 7 and 8 when unidentified assailants hurled Molotov cocktails at the building, resulting in damage to its walls. These incidents come amidst heightened tensions following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, during which several Russian embassies worldwide have been targeted. In Tallinn, eggs were thrown at the diplomatic mission, while in Bucharest, a vehicle rammed into the embassy's gate, causing it to ignite.

The Russian embassy in Chisinau has also faced similar attacks in the past. In October 2022, firecrackers were thrown, and offensive graffiti was vandalized on the embassy's fence. Subsequently, in August 2023, the embassy gate was damaged by a vehicle.
