Lazare Grigoriadis set to leave penitentiary today following pardon decision

Lika Bitadze, the legal representative for Lazare Grigoriadis, said on Wednesday it was anticipated that he will be released from penitentiary today.

Grigoriadis' defense team has received the resolution portion of the verdict from the court. They are expected to proceed to the office of President Salome Zourabichvili shortly. Following the necessary procedures and the president's signing of the pardon, the requisite documentation will be forwarded to the correctional facility. Grigoriadis will then be discharged from prison.

Grigoriadis, aged 21, was arrested in connection with alleged offenses during the March protests against foreign agents bill, including causing harm to law enforcement officers and damaging state property. On April 12, the Tbilisi City Court found him guilty on both counts, resulting in a nine-year prison sentence, as pronounced by Judge Zviad Sharadze.

President Zourabichvili disclosed on April 12 her decision to grant clemency to Grigoriadis.
