Visa-free travel for Georgians to China launched

Citizens of Georgia have been granted the right to travel visa-free to China starting May 28.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, convened with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Georgia on Monday to discuss the topic.

In a formal exchange, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that the ambassador presented an official note to the Georgian authorities, signaling the completion of procedures for the enactment of the "Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the People's Republic of China on bilateral exemption from visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports," inked on April 10, 2024, by China.

From May 28, 2024, onwards, Georgian citizens will have the privilege to explore China visa-free and reside in the country for up to 30 consecutive days, as confirmed by the Georgian Ministry of Affairs.

This reciprocal gesture follows Georgia's initiative to grant visa-free travel to Chinese citizens on September 11, 2023, after Georgia and China issued a joint statement on July 31, 2023, affirming the establishment of a strategic partnership.
