A Georgian citizen was unlawfully detained by representatives of the Russian occupation forces near the village of Disevi, according to reports from the Georgian State Security Service on Monday. 

The village of Gugutiantkari, where the arrested individual resides, shares the occupation line with the occupied villages of Disevi and Khelchua.

The State Security Service said it had promptly activated the hotline managed by the EU Monitoring Mission. Additionally, information regarding this illegal detention has been relayed to the co-chairs of the international discussions in Geneva and other international partners, the agency added. 

It further noted all available mechanisms had been set in motion to secure the prompt release of the unlawfully detained Georgian citizen.

This detention adds to the already existing concern, as there are currently eight Georgian citizens held in the Tskhinvali prison and detention center, facing charges related to the alleged violation of the so-called border.
