The Special Investigation Service of Georgia on Wednesday reported a 19-year-old man had been apprehended for unlawful obtaining and distribution of intimate video files of a 13-year-old girl. 

In an official statement, the agency said the alleged offender with a fictitious name met the victim through the social network Facebook and obtained her naked footage through coercion.

“Through intimidation and blackmail, the man forced the victim to undress in front of him, threatening to harm her family members if refused”, said the agency. 

In May 2024, the defendant sent intimate video files of a 13-year-old girl to the 17-year-old sister and stepfather of the minor victim. Also, he demanded the sister of the victim to undress in front of him, otherwise he threatened to make the intimate video recordings of the victim public. "After receiving the refusal, the accused published on the social network Facebook the videos of intimate content taken while communicating with the affected minor via video calls," the statement read.

After the appeal of the mother of the victim minor, the investigation was opened, the Special Investigation Service added.  During a personal search of the defendant, intimate video recordings of the minor were found in his mobile phone and taken as evidence. The crime is punishable by four to seven years in prison.
