Georgia’s reputation has been severely damaged by the ruling party, Georgian Dream, according to Tina Khidasheli, Chair of the Civil Idea organization and former Defence Minister.
She emphasized that while the government might change soon, it will take much longer to restore the trust and reputation that the country once enjoyed.
Khidasheli highlighted that after Israel, Georgia was the second-largest recipient of US support and assistance, a reflection of the high level of trust and reputation Georgia had internationally. Despite the country’s challenges, including poverty and issues with aggressive neighbors, the US saw Georgia as deserving of support.
However, Khidasheli warned that this position is now at great risk due to the actions of the Georgian Dream.
“Today, this is facing the greatest threat. Georgian Dream has damaged our reputation as a country. Georgian Dream will change very soon, but restoring this reputation and trust will take much longer than just until October 26,” she stressed.
