Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri says that at least 10-15 individuals are under rubbles of a residential building in Batumi which collapsed earlier today.

One entrance of a seven-storey residential building on May 29 street in Batumi collapsed earlier today.

Gomelauri said that a removal of a retaining wall during renovation work in one of the flats in the building may have been the reason for the collapse.

He says that two of the 10-15 individuals missing are on telephone contact with rescuers.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashhvili has stated that he will arrive in Batumi soon.

As reported, about 200 people live in the building.
