Sixteen Georgian citizens, who requested the return to Georgia after the Taliban seized control of Kabul on August 15, will allegedly arrive in Georgia later today.
The ministry says that the Georgian citizens are currently at NATO base, near Kabul airport and will fly to Dubai first via the British charter flight.
“From Dubail they will return to Georgia,” said the ministry.
In total 22 Georgian citizens contracted the Georgian Foreign Ministry to ensure their safe return to the country.
Six of the 22 former soldiers, who worked on contract either for a Canadian or a British company in Afghanistan, returned to Georgia earlier this week.
Situation got tense in Afghanistan after the NATO and US troops left the country after almost two decades of presence, following the agreement signed between the former US President Donald Trump and the Taliban back in 2020.
