190 foreigners expelled from Georgia in 2023

According to recent data released by Georgian authorities, 190 individuals were deported from the country in 2023, marking an uptick compared to previous years.

A breakdown provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs said Azerbaijan topped the list with 41 deportations, followed closely by Iran with 32 individuals. Among those deported were also 27 Indians, 13 Russians, 9 Egyptians, 9 Nigerians, 8 Turks, 8 Chinese, 7 Bangladeshis, 6 Jordanians, 6 Iraqis, and 5 Pakistanis.

Analysis of the demographics reveals that the majority of those deported fell within the age bracket of 16-40 years, accounting for 85 cases. Additionally, 27 minors were among the individuals who were sent back to their home countries.

In 2022, a total of 165 individuals were deported, while 77 and 49 deportations were recorded in 2021 and 2020, respectively, according to data provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
