20,723 Ukrainian citizens are in Georgia as of April 3, Charge d’affaires of Ukraine to Georgia Andrey Kasyanov stated today.

The people have fled the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war which began on February 24.

Kasyanov thanked the Georgian authorities for meeting the requirements of the individuals and supporting Ukraine in international platforms.

“The Ukrainian citizens who have entered Georgia in recent days are mainly from Mariupol,” Kasyanov said.

He stated that he is in close cooperation with the members of the Georgian government to ensure all necessities for refugees as “we do not expect the war will end in a week’s time.”

Kasyanov stated that the refugees will be in need of education, medical care and other services and the embassy would do its best to resolve the issues through cooperation with the Georgian government.
