Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian minister of economy, has said more than 200,000 individuals had crossed into Georgia after the launch of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in late February.

The minister noted the majority of the people had left the country shortly to Turkey or Armenia, only 60,000 remaining.

“Thus, the wave that we remember [at the Russia-Georgia border] and especially in one specific period, has stabilized”, the minister said.

Some of the domestic opposition parties are still demanding the imposition of visa resume for Russian nationals in the country to prevent their mass inflow amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
