23 of 26 bodies recovered after Shovi landslide identified – official

Twenty-three of 26 recovered in the aftermath of a deadly landslide in Georgia’s western Shovi resort on August 3, had been identified, while seven are still missing, local authorities said on Wednesday. 

About 90 percent of the territory hit by the major landslide destroying the whole resort had been inspected, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on Tuesday. 

Up to 800 professionals from the Emergency Management Service and the country’s Defence Forces have been involved in search and rescue efforts over the past several days, along with special hardware, helicopters and boats, the body added.
