The twenty-five generators that had been bought by the Georgian authorities for Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia, had already reached the destination, the Georgian economy ministry said on Friday.

The Georgian government had purchased industrial generators for Ukraine for ₾1.5 million at the end of December 2022, with hospitals, catering facilities and other critical infrastructure working in emergency mode through them.

After Russia deliberately bombed energy facilities in Ukraine, even critical infrastructure has limited power supply, pushing Kyiv to request aid with generators.

Various types of generators were purchased in Georgia as part of a civil initiative and sent to Ukraine a few weeks ago.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia said on December 6 that they applied to the Georgian authorities for the transfer of generators a month ago, but they did not receive an answer.

This statement of the embassy caused severe criticism of the Georgian government, with the latter responding it had “never left Kyiv’s requests unresponded”.
