The body of the 27th missing in the aftermath of the August 3 deadly landslide in Georgia’s western Shovi resort has been recovered by rescuers on Thursday, official bodies have confirmed.
Six individuals, including children, are still missing.
Twenty-three of the 27 bodies have been identified.
About 800 professionals from the country’s Emergency Management Service and Defence forces have been involved in search and rescue efforts over the past several days.
The Government claimed the disaster had been “unpreventable” and it had used “all resources” to respond to its consequences, amid the opposition’s allegations about the late response to the disaster – in three hours from receiving the notification – the lack of rescue helicopters and the absence of early warning systems.
