The Georgian government has declared 29 August a public holiday, the Government Administration announced on Monday.
The decree has been signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The decision does not apply to individuals or institutions under the supervision of the National Bank of Georgia who have financial obligations, nor to employees whose functions are deemed urgent or essential.
The Georgian Orthodox Church marks the celebration of Anchiskhati on August 29.
The celebration is associated with the Anchiskhati Church in Tbilisi, which is dedicated to the Holy Savior. The feast commemorates the holy icon of Jesus Christ housed in the church, believed to have miraculous properties and a long history dating back to the early Christian period in Georgia.
The celebration usually involves religious services, prayers, and processions, with believers visiting the church to honor the icon and seek blessings.
