Ukraine: Russian military losses exceed 1.2 million since start of war

Ukraine’s Armed Forces have released updated figures on Russia’s military losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.
According to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Russia has lost an estimated 1,212,520 troops killed or wounded since the war began. The latest update, covering the past 24 hours, reports an additional 990 casualties.
The Ukrainian military also provided updated estimates of Russia’s equipment losses between 25 February 2022 and 5 January 2026. These include:

1,592 multiple launch rocket systems (+2)
