Khatia Dekanoidze, an opposition MP, on Friday claimed 40 municipalities across the country had no access to ambulance cars, adding the emergency aid center had only 22 units of ambulances throughout the country.

“The Government must resolve the problem and make the service available to the citizens of the country. The presence of ambulance vehicles must not be dependent on the goodwill of specific companies or individuals [which donate them to the Government entities], Dekanoidze said.

The lawmaker claimed the problem was particularly “severe” for the individuals living in mountainous regions, where access to general healthcare still remained a “serious problem”.
