696 Georgian citizens deported from Germany in last three months

696 Georgian citizens have been deported from Germany between July, August and September, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
In the reported period 1,070 persons were granted permission to return to Georgia from EU countries, the body added, of which 1,070 were approved, and four were rejected.
136 Georgian citizens were deported from France, 48 from Switzerland, 33 from Greece, 30 from Poland, 21 from Italy, 15 from the Netherlands and 13 from Austria in the reported period.
The agreement between Georgia and the European Union “on the readmission of persons living without permission” came into effect on March 1, 2011.
On the basis of the agreement, Georgian citizens living illegally in the territory of the bloc are returned to Georgia.
The agreement also provides for the return of citizens of third countries to Georgia based on the conditions established by the deal. All transport costs related to readmission and transit to the border of the final destination state are reimbursed by the requesting state.
