7,459 Russian businesses registered in Georgia in five months

7459 Russian businesses have been registered in Georgia between March 1 and August 1, according to the data from the National Statistical Office of Georgia on Tuesday.
544 of the registered Russian businesses were limited liability companies (LLCs), 6,913 were individual entrepreneurs, and two were the branches of foreign enterprises.
The agency said that the activities of 542 out of 544 Russian LLCs registered in Georgia were unknown, while the field of activity of one company was coffee processing, and another one was a hotel without restaurants and similar accommodation facilities.
As for the 6,913 Russian individual entrepreneurs registered in Georgia, the activities of only two were identified, while the field of activity of 6,911 was not known to the agency.
The largest number of Russian businesses in Georgia – namely, 2,169 – were registered in March.
In particular, in March of this year, 147 Russian LLCs, 2,021 individual entrepreneurs and one branch of a foreign enterprise were registered in Georgia.
1,601 Russian businesses were registered in April, 1,370 in May, 1,219 in June and 1,100 in July.
The Georgian opposition has called on the Government to take steps not to allow Russians to visit the country in large numbers or to register businesses in the country on the background of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
