8 children, 117 health workers, 17 pregnant women die from coronavirus since February

Eight children, 117 medical workers and 17 pregnant women have died from Covid-19 in Georgia between February 2020 and October 1, 2021, the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says in its report.

In the reporting period, infection of  healthcare workers accounted for 6.4% of total confirmed cases. In total 7,338 pregnant women contracted the virus since February 2020 of which 17 died from Covid-19.

All the pregnant women who died from the virus were not vaccinated.90,680 children (0 to 18) contracted the virus in the reporting period.7,708 of the 90,680 children were hospitalised, while eight died from the virus.

57 fully vaccinated individuals died from the virus between March 15 and September 30 of 2021 since the launch of vaccination, accounting for 1.04% of 5,469 deaths recorded in the period. 

5,412 of the 5,469 individuals who died from the virus in the period were not vaccinated.
