9 arrested for Tbilisi Vake Park incident, killing one, injuring two

Nine individuals have been arrested for the October 13 incident in Tbilisi Vake park, which saw one minor killed and two others injured after being electrocuted in the newly renovated fountain, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on Tuesday. 

The ministry said that the deputy head of Tbilisi City Hall environmental protection service, the head of contractor firm Green Service +, his employees, representatives of a subcontractor firm and two workers had been arrested on charges of official indifference, violation of safety regulations, forgery and others. 

The ministry said that two workers hired by a subcontractor firm had damaged an electric wire, which later caused the deadly incident, with Tbilisi City Hall official and the contractor firms showing indifference to check the work. 

The state body also said that Green Service + had forged official documents the Tbilisi City Hall to accept the work.
