Russian security forces use the territory of Ukraine as a testing ground for new sniper weapons.

Radio Liberty writes about this.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense said that since 2016, regular snipers have appeared in the first and second army corps of the "DPR" and "LPR". These units are trained by instructors from Russia.

According to the Ministry of Defense, now the staffing of such units is about 450 servicemen-snipers.

"In addition, sniper groups of the armed forces of Russia, the FSB, and other security agencies are now very actively entering the territory of Ukraine. These are about 50 people who are constantly on our territory in order to work out the most important tasks and, in addition, to increase their combat experience in the use of sniper weapons in modern conflicts ", – said the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadym Skibitsky.

Since 2016, snipers have been trained in the occupied Donbass.

"According to military intelligence, in December last year on the territory of Ukraine, in the occupied regions, training sessions of sniper units were held with the involvement of officers of the Russian armed forces, who, as instructors, arrived from the territory of the Rostov region to conduct these training sessions, conduct individual exercises and monitor the results of training sniper units of the first and second army corps," – Skibitsky said
